In July, affected by several rounds of heavy rainfall and water from the Yangtze River, the water level of Poyang Lake rose rapidly, and the rivers and lakes in the lakeside area of Nanchang City completely exceeded the warning water level. Over the past month, in the stormy weather, the cadres and masses in party member, the lakeside area, have made concerted efforts to fight the flood.

"The embankment is our lifeline, and we can’t be a little sloppy." Zhang Zhinan, a villager in Xiaoqi Village, Lianxu Town, a newly-built area in Nanchang, learned that his hometown was in an emergency, so he put down his foreign business and resolutely returned to his hometown to patrol and protect the embankment with the villagers.
Lianwei Town, a newly-built area located on the southwest bank of Poyang Lake, is surrounded by water, and three dikes protect the safety of residents and cultivated land. On July 4, the outer river of Lianwei Town exceeded the warning water level, and the cadres and the masses stood in the front line of flood control day and night to eliminate the danger.
The villagers know best and care most about the safety of dikes. When the disaster was critical, the town issued an open letter to the people of the town, hoping that migrant workers would return home to participate in flood fighting and rescue and protect their homes. A total of 1128 villagers who went out to work and do business in the town set off from all over the country and returned to their hometowns to fight floods and rescue.
Party member cadres stand up to fight floods and rescue. Tu Xixiang, secretary of the Party branch of the town judicial office who is about to retire, volunteered to go to the embankment to inspect and rescue. Tu Yongsheng, secretary of Houzhou village branch, Xiong Xifeng, secretary of Tanggang village branch, and Xiong Yunjun, secretary of Fengyun village branch, took the lead in sticking to the front line and devoted themselves to flood control.
People are on the embankment. Since July, more than 800 cadres and masses have patrolled the dikes over 50 kilometers in Lianwei Town for 24 hours, and handled more than 20 soaking springs in time to ensure the safety of the dikes.

This year’s flood season is unforgettable for Tu Jianming, a new father. The second day after the child was born, the flood alarm sounded. As the deputy mayor in charge of water conservancy work in Jiangxiang Town, Nanchang County, he has been stationed in the front line of flood fighting and rescue.
"Protecting the dam means protecting the masses. I can’t go home before the flood control work is over." Tu Jianming said.
During the flood fighting and emergency rescue, a number of party member cadres like Tu Jianming emerged in Nanchang County. In the flood control section of Yichengwei Riverside Village, Ying Xueyi, who is over 70 years old, and his two sons fought in the flood control line; Wan Li, director of women in Xinrong Village, Youlan Town, is meticulous in patrolling the dike and is known as the "Iron Lady".
While emphasizing civil air defense and physical defense, Nanchang county actively applies advanced technology for scientific flood control.
They set up a new type of militia drone reconnaissance unit, using unmanned fixed-wing aircraft to track and monitor key areas and dangerous embankments in real time, providing a more accurate basis for water regime judgment, hidden danger investigation and rescue search.

Yu Yiping, secretary of the Party Committee of Ertang Township, Jinxian County, participated in the flood control in 1998, and returned to the levee this time to teach young party member the flood control experience.
