Two former Japanese prime ministers approved the people of Kishida government shouting "No nuclear power"
BEIJING, March 13 (Xinhua) According to Kyodo News, former Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and Naoto Kan attended the memorial service for the Great East Japan Earthquake held in Hibiya Park, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, calling for "zero nuclear power".
Koizumi pointed out, "Nuclear power plants will make people lose their hometown. If the current Prime Minister says that natural energy should be used to make nuclear power zero, almost all citizens will agree. "
When Koizumi called for "I hope the ruling and opposition parties will make joint efforts", the audience applauded.
Koizumi also criticized the Kishida government, which decided to actively use nuclear power.
Naoto Kan, who was the prime minister of the Democratic Party government at the time of the earthquake, also questioned nuclear power, saying that "if there is an accident, it is equivalent to being dropped with a nuclear bomb". He told Koizumi that in order to achieve zero nuclear power, "it would be nice if we could be in power together", which caused a burst of laughter.
In front of the nearby Prime Minister’s residence, civic groups opposed to nuclear power sounded percussion instruments and shouted "No nuclear power, no restart" in unison.
On March 11th, 2011, a 9.0-magnitude earthquake occurred in the sea off the northeast of Japan, causing a huge tsunami. Affected by both the earthquake and the tsunami, a large amount of radioactive materials leaked from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, resulting in a serious nuclear accident.
