McKinsey’s report surveyed 2,395 corporate executives and described the current situation of corporate AI.

The conclusions of the report are divided into four aspects:

Firstly, an overview of the application of AI in enterprises is given. The report shows that at least half of the respondents have adopted AI, and its value in enterprises is that the increase in income is greater than the decrease in cost, but only 16% of the respondents have introduced deep learning.

Secondly, from the analysis of enterprise practice, why can some enterprises use AI to generate greater value? What are the characteristics of these enterprises? Practice is divided into six aspects: strategy; Talent and leadership; Methods; Tools and technologies; Data; AI deployment.

The third is to check the enterprise’s perception of AI risk, and find that most enterprises have no awareness of the possible risks of AI, and few enterprises manage the risks. Network security is still the only risk that most enterprises consider.

Fourth, the report found that the epidemic actually accelerated the application of AI by enterprises and the digital transformation process of enterprises.

Every year, McKinsey publishes a global survey of artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze the current situation of AI application in enterprises. This year’s survey was conducted from June 9 to June 19, 2020. McKinsey collected feedback from 2,395 participants from different regions, industries, company size, functional expertise and tenure.

Among them, 1,151 people said that their enterprises have adopted AI in at least one project and answered some questions about how to use AI. In order to adjust the difference of response rate, the data is weighted according to the contribution of each respondent country to global GDP.

The report shows that enterprises are increasingly using AI as a tool to create value, but this value is more reflected in increasing revenue than reducing costs. More than two-thirds of the respondents said that AI can increase revenue, mainly through functions such as inventory and parts optimization, pricing and promotion, customer service analysis, sales and demand forecasting. In addition, a small number of respondents from different industries attributed 20% or more of their organization’s earnings before interest and tax to AI.

In addition, the gap between companies that perform better in AI deployment and other companies is also widening. Better companies tend to have higher annual growth rate, better overall leadership and higher technical investment.

However, with the deepening of practice, the risks in AI application have gradually emerged, among which the most noteworthy risk is the lack of model interpretability. Although some enterprises have made some progress in reducing AI risks, most enterprises still have a long way to go.

Overview of AI deployment:

In terms of the adoption of AI, the McKinsey report shows that half of the respondents have used AI in at least one business. In addition, the survey results show that some companies using AI are seeing value added at the enterprise level. 22% of the respondents said that in 2019, more than 5% of the earnings before interest and tax in their organizations were attributed to the use of artificial intelligence, and 48% of the respondents said that the proportion was less than 5%.

This year, McKinsey asked about the use of deep learning for the first time, and found that only 16% of the respondents said that they had introduced deep learning into the pilot stage, mainly in the high-tech and telecommunications industries. How can enterprises get more value from AI?

In the practice of AI deployment, there are always some companies that have better effects than others, and the report calls them "high-performance companies".

So what are the advantages of companies that see the greatest value from the use of AI (think that 20% or more of earnings before interest and tax within the enterprise in 2019 can be attributed to the use of AI) compared with other companies? The report lists the following points:

Higher annual growth rate: The research results show that the companies that get more earnings before interest and tax contribution from AI have better annual growth rate than other companies. Respondents of high-performance companies are almost twice as likely as others to report a 10% or more increase in EBIT in 2019.

Better overall leadership: These companies have more efficient top management and are more likely to have an active and capable leader.

Higher investment in technology: Compared with their peers, they have invested more in AI and are more likely to increase their investment in AI in the next three years. Moreover, compared with buying third-party solutions, high-performance companies often have the ability to develop their own AI solutions and hire more relevant talents. At the same time, McKinsey also focused on the practice of enterprises deploying AI this year to judge which practices can make enterprises get more value from AI. The number of enterprises concerned this year is about twice that of the past.

As can be seen from the following table, taking "strategy" as an example, there are still some differences between high-performance enterprises and other enterprises. Neglected AI risk perception

With the deepening of practice, the risks of AI have gradually emerged. However, the survey results show that only a few companies recognize the risks of AI, and fewer companies want to reduce the risks.

In terms of risk perception, most enterprises believe that network security, legal provisions and mode interpretability are AI-related risks, among which national security and personal safety have received more attention.

As the figure shows, network security is still the only risk that most interviewees consider relevant.

The situation of risk management is similar, but it is worth noting that more and more enterprises are beginning to realize and solve the problem of "model interpretability".

Some enterprises have also made targeted measures. Although epidemic prevention measures have brought economic challenges to many companies, those companies that can see the greatest value of AI are still increasing their technical investment. According to the report, most respondents from high-performance companies said that their investment in AI has increased, mainly in the automobile, assembly, health care services, pharmaceuticals and medical products industries.

As shown in the figure, during the epidemic, most outstanding companies increased their investment in AI, but the changes in different industries were different.

However, the more AI technology is deployed, the more you can feel its risks. Many high-performance companies say that their AI models are particularly fragile in marketing, sales, product development and service operation.

There are also some companies that have used AI to find new growth points under the pressure of the epidemic. Pioneers have long predicted that holography is the ultimate way to achieve perfect 3D display, because holography is the only way to meet the optical requirements of human visual system. For many years, researchers have been working hard to achieve this goal.

1. Why is holographic 3D display a formidable challenge?

In order to describe the difficulty of holographic 3D display intuitively, the author usesData transmission rate (bit rate, b/s)As a measure.

In 1876, the appearance of telephone began to transmit sound signals, and the transmission rate was 64 KB/s.

Black-and-white TV, which appeared in the 1940s, can display 29.97 frames /s video with a transmission rate of 26 MB/s..

The transmission rate of color TV, which appeared in 1950s, has tripled to 78mb/s..

Digital video began to appear in 1990s, and the required rate of HDTV 720p reached 1.33 GB/s..

In the 2010s, the transmission rate of 4K HDTV 2160p was 12.7 GB/s..

The development trajectory may not be unchangeable, and all this depends on the continuous efforts of human beings. Although it is very difficult to realize, holography is still considered as the ultimate technology to realize 3D display. This is because holography is the only method that can meet the optical requirements of human visual system at present.

Second, human vision and 3D display

Understanding how the human visual system perceives 3D information is very important for developing 3D display.

The human visual system perceives depth from a large number of information obtained from the outside, and most of the important depth perception elements are two-dimensional information, includingShading+shadowing, perspective, relative size, occlusion and ambiguity..

Figure 2 below shows three balls on a two-dimensional plane, but it contains the two-dimensional depth perception elements listed above. After these two-dimensional depth perception elements pass through the human visual system, we will think that they are balls in three-dimensional space. Therefore, whether it is painting, photo or image, as long as the above two-dimensional depth perception elements are implanted, our human eyes will have a three-dimensional perception effect, otherwise the optical image illusion will occur. Therefore, the 3D display system needs to ensure the above two-dimensional depth perception factors first, and then add and solve other three-dimensional perception factors, such as stereoscopic parallax, motion inspection and visual convergence conflict (VAC) and so on.

Based on the above information, the author discusses several main 3D display technologies and their characteristics:

1. Based on Stereo disparity:It is common in 3D cinemas now, and needs to wear 3D glasses, and there is a VAC.

2. Autostereoscopy 3D display:Commonly used lens array to realize three-dimensional imaging of light field; Users need to be fixed in a specific location, and there is a VAC.

3. Based on Motion Parallax (Multiview):It is equivalent to the user’s movable naked-eye 3D, with VAC, and the required bit rate is low, about 10 GB/s, which is also the focus of current research.

4. volumetric displays:Light is emitted, scattered and illuminated through a predefined three-dimensional space to display a three-dimensional image. Images are suspended in the air, giving people a great visual impact. However, there is occlusion problem and the imaging volume is limited.

These 3D display technologies have their own advantages and disadvantages and their applicable application scenarios, and many of them are limited by the human visual system and cannot be solved. However, these technologies will continue to move forward in the direction of more comfortable and better display effect for users before the final holography matures.

Third, holographic 3D display

Holography has been proved to be the only 3D display technology that can meet all the requirements of human visual system. But its challenge is enormous, mainly from three aspects:

1. Holographic 3D information computation.

The appearance of Computed Generated Holograms, CGH) has greatly promoted the development of holographic computing. The arbitrary image generate by that phase plate at a specific diffraction distance is calculated by use Kirchhoff and Feinier diffraction theory. But 10¹⁵The data bit rate requirement of b/s level (720p video) makes the calculation huge and time-consuming. This requires a more concise holographic computing algorithm, and the corresponding specific hardware platform for holographic computing is also very necessary.

2. Holographic information transmission (transmission)

Because of the huge data transmission demand, it is very important to establish an effective data transmission network model and a distortion-free diffraction data compression algorithm.

3. Holographic information alternation generation (reproduction)

In order to generate high-quality holographic graphics, taking the bit rate of 3× 10b/s as an example, it takes about 230,000 4K spatial light modulators (SLM) and 15,000 computers to process the corresponding data. These absurd numbers once again show the difficulty of realizing holographic 3D display. Holographic data generation devices and methods can generally be divided into the following categories:

I. liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS SLM):The resolution is high, but the refresh rate of liquid crystal is low.

Ii. microelectromechanical systems (MEMS):Fast refresh rate and high integration, but the current device efficiency is low. Texas Instruments is in the leading position, and its next-generation high-efficiency phase modulator is also being developed.

Iii. developing holographic materials that can be refreshed in real time;Such as photorefractive polymers and acousto-optic materials.

Iv. phase array photonic integrated chip:Micro-nano scale phase array is composed of a series of optical waveguides and realizes large-scale integration of wafer size. As shown in fig. 3, these phase arrays change their phases through on-chip acousto-optic or thermo-optic modulators, and are coupled out by gratings. Its advantages are high speed, easy phase control and large-scale integration on chip. The disadvantage is that the phase resolution is low, which leads to a large diffraction sidelobe.

At present, no technology can meet the requirements of high resolution, high data generation and high integration at the same time.

Holography is still considered as the final technology to realize ideal 3D display. Although there is no mature and perfect solution at present, it cannot hide the great contribution people have made to it. Scientists are turning this technology into reality as never before.

The technical requirements of recommended national standards, industry standards, local standards, group standards, and enterprise standards shall not be lower than the relevant technical requirements of mandatory national standards. I. National Standards

The original standard GB/T 1536-2004 was replaced, which was issued on August 13, 2004 and implemented on February 1, 2005. The earliest national standard for rapeseed oil is GB 1536-1986, which is a mandatory national standard. It was issued on April 24, 1979, implemented on April 1, 1987, and abolished on February 1, 2005.

The important changes to the new national standard involve the following:

1) Scope of application

It is clear that the new standard does not apply to high oleic acid rapeseed oil (the highest oleic acid content or up to 85%), but the new standard applies to general rapeseed oil, that is, the oleic acid content is about 40%.

2) Canola oil classification terms

The original standard divides rapeseed oil into three categories: rapeseed crude oil, crushed finished rapeseed oil, and leached finished rapeseed oil.

The new standard specifies the classification standard into two dimensions. According to the degree of processing, it is divided into rapeseed crude oil and finished rapeseed oil. According to the erucic acid content of the oil in rapeseed, it is divided into ordinary rapeseed oil and low erucic acid rapeseed oil.

3) Grade and Quality Standards of Finished Rapeseed Oil

The finished rapeseed oil includes pressed rapeseed oil and leached rapeseed oil. The new standard stipulates different Quality Standards for the two rapeseed oils, adjusting from the previous four grades to two grades of pressed rapeseed oil and three grades of leached rapeseed oil, and adjusting the acid value, smoke point and other indicators respectively.

In general, the higher the degree of refining, the higher the smoke point, that is, the higher the smoke point of the first-grade oil than the second-grade oil, the higher the degree of refining, but the refining process also inevitably loses some nutrients.

The new standard follows the concept of moderate processing, and under the premise of meeting food safety standards, the acid value of pressed primary oil and secondary oil is adjusted from 0.2mg/g and 0.3mg/g to 1.5mg/g and 3.0mg/g respectively; at the same time, the smoke point requirement for pressed rapeseed oil is cancelled.

The new standard adjusts the acid value of the leached primary oil, secondary oil, and tertiary oil from 0.2mg/g, 0.3mg/g, and 1.0mg/g to 1.5mg/g, 2.0mg/g, and 3.0mg/g, respectively. The new standard only stipulates the smoke point of the leached primary oil, which is adjusted from 215 ° C to 190 ° C. There is no smoke point regulation for the leached secondary oil and tertiary oil. Enterprises do not need to over-refine, and more nutrients are retained in the oil, which is conducive to healthy consumption.

Industry standards refer to technical requirements that do not have recommended national standards and need to be unified within an industry across the country. Industry standards are prepared by the relevant administrative departments of the State Council, organized and drafted, approved, numbered, and issued uniformly, and reported to the standardization administrative department of the State Council for the record. Industry standards are abolished by themselves after the implementation of the corresponding national standards.

Industry standard codes for various industries vary, with the agricultural industry standard code being NY.

Industry standards related to rapeseed oil include NY/T 416-2000 Low Erucic Acid Rapeseed Oil, NY/T 2002-2011 Determination of Erucic Acid in Rapeseed Oil, NY/T 2003-2011 Determination of Oxidative Stability of Rapeseed Oil Accelerated Oxidation Test, and the repealed NY 5118-2002 Pollution Free Food Rapeseed Oil.

III. Local standards

Local standards may be formulated for the safety and hygiene requirements of industrial products that do not have national standards or industry standards but need to be unified within the province, autonomous region or municipality directly under the Central Government. Items for formulating local standards shall be determined by the standardization administrative department of the people’s government of the province, autonomous region or municipality directly under the Central Government.

Local standards shall be prepared by the standardization administrative department of the people’s government of the province, autonomous region or municipality directly under the Central Government, organized and drafted, approved, numbered and issued uniformly, and reported to the standardization administrative department of the State Council and the relevant administrative department of the State Council for the record. Where the law provides otherwise for the formulation of local standards, the provisions of the law shall be implemented. IV. Group standards

In the absence of national standards, industry standards, and local standards, social groups can develop group standards, respond quickly to innovation and market demand for standards, and fill existing standards gaps.

V. Enterprise standards

If the products produced by an enterprise do not have national standards, industry standards and local standards, corresponding enterprise standards shall be formulated as the basis for organizing production. Enterprise standards shall be formulated by the enterprise organization (the measures for formulating agricultural enterprise standards shall be determined separately), and shall be filed in accordance with the regulations of the people’s governments of provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government.
